Kathleen Nelson

Chief Nursing Officer

Kathleen NelsonKathleen Nelson, RN, MSN is the Chief Nursing Officer at EIRMC.  She has been with the company since 2009, but has extensive experience in the healthcare field. 

Prior to coming to EIRMC, Kathleen was the Division Manager for Health Professions at Eastern Idaho Technical College.  There she was responsible for six different health care departments, faculty, staff, and students.  Kathleen also served as Chief Nurse Executive at Madison Memorial Hospital in Rexburg for eight years. 

Both professionally and personally, Kathleen is active in various community organizations and causes.   She has served as Past Chair of Idaho Alliance of Leaders in Nursing; Past Chair of Idaho Commission of Nursing and Nurse Education (ICNNE); Past President of Idaho Organization of Nurse Executives (IONE); Board Member of the Idaho Nursing Workforce Center Board; Current Board member of Eastern Idaho Development Company; Current member of Board of Directors for Idaho Falls Chamber of Commerce.

Kathleen also has earned many awards and recognitions during her career, including the Distinguished Faculty of the Year Award from EITC (2002), National Institute of Organizational and Staff Development Teaching Excellence Award (2003), Nurse Week “Nursing in Excellence Award” (2002)

Kathleen holds Masters of Nursing and Bachelors of Science degrees from Idaho State University, and an Associate of Science degree from Ricks College.                          

Kathleen makes Rexburg her home with husband Garth.  They have four grown children and four very cute grandchildren.
