Lou Fatkin
Executive Director of Risk Management/ECO/Physician Relations
In his role as Risk Manager, Lou’s primary responsibility is to protect the hospital against risks associated with accidental losses, regardless of the cause. In addition, Lou’s focus is to maintain a safe and effective hospital care environment for patients, visitors and employees.
In early 2010, Lou was appointed Ethics and Compliance Officer for the hospital. This position resembles Risk Management in many ways. As ECO, Lou facilitates the hospital’s Code of Conduct program which promotes ethical and legal standards throughout the hospital. The program is a reflection of the HCA mission statement, which clearly states: “We treat all those we serve with compassion and kindness.
Lou has been at EIRMC for over 31 years and is the senior member of the Administrative Staff. Lou attributes his longevity to the wonderful people who work at EIRMC, whom he considers family. He says the present Administrative Team is the finest group he has worked with during his 31 years.
Lou is originally from Maryland and obtained his BS degree from Frostburg State University. He has through the years enhanced his education in the field of Risk Management and is a Certified Professional in Healthcare Risk Management. Lou is also an active member of the Eastern Idaho Technical College Foundation Board.
Lou has been married to his wife Kathy for 8 years. Kathy is also employed at EIRMC as the Medical Librarian. They both enjoy the recreational opportunities abundantly available in Eastern Idaho. On a weekend you’ll find them hiking, cycling or snowshoeing in the mountains.
