“Holy cow! I didn’t recognize you!”
“You look so different!”
These are just a few of the wonderful, positive words I’ve heard from friends and family since my lap-band surgery. I’ve lost 80 pounds in the past 10 months, and in their eyes, it seems I’ve become a different person. My life certainly has changed, and changed for the better. Read more

I've always been a yo-yo dieter, and was never able to make diet a true lifestyle change. Surgery appealed to me for that reason - I would have to eat smaller quantities, rather than just giving up and bingeing like I had on previous diets. Read more

I first started considering weight-loss surgery after I talked to another woman who had it and looked SO good. I was tired of the yo-yo and unsuccessful diets. I lost weight on them but then went right back up. I decided that I wanted to have the bypass rather than the lap band – not sure why. Read more

When I was a child I had problems with my tonsils, resulting in a constant sore throat which made eating painful. After my tonsillectomy at age 8, I was able to eat anything I wanted and boy, did I!
I battled with a weight problem for the rest of my life. I tried every diet known to man! The only way I lost weight was to walk 5 miles a
day and eat no more than 250 to 300 calories. Who can possibly maintain THAT for a lifetime? Pretty soon my body was starving and refusing to release any more fat.
When I was overweight, my life was so limited. All I did was exist from day to day. Now I have no limits- my life is full of options and choices like never before. When my fibromyalgia allows me, I can go anywhere and do anything I’ve always wanted to do. Read more

The last year has been a gift. My body and my mind have been unwrapped to reveal wonderful presents.
To list a few: I have knuckles, collar bones, knees, legs that I can cross, tennis shoes that can be tied without breaking a sweat, hugs that can reach all the way around, and races to be run.
I have discovered many things this year but the best thing I discovered is me! Thank you to the great team at New U! Your support is invaluable. Last but not least thank you David (my husband) for seeing the me under all that pain, and for loving me when I didn’t.

I weighed 382 pounds and had a variety of medical issues. I was headed to the grave until I got a handle on things.
I had no quality of life, I usually laid around the house until I had the lap-band surgery. After the surgery, I started to get out and do things. With the help of the New U program I lost over 100 pounds. It made a big difference in my life. I was on oxygen 24/7 and had asthma, which disappeared with my weight loss.
I have tried every diet there was. I could lose the weight, but I couldn’t keep it off. It’s a life-long struggle to maintain a healthy weight. My health has dramatically improved. Now I only have to have oxygen at night and I enjoy exercising, especially when I can swim.
